Dónde estábamosWhere Latinos were when hip-hop was born — block by block, city by city, country by country

Latinos were not witnesses to hip-hop. Not guests. Co-creators. Generation 1 gave the flowers and sold out. Generation 2 says where they grew: the block, the project, the park, the city. Every pin carries a receipt. We don't pretend to be the experts — we are the holders of the history. If someone is missing, tell us: we add names with proof.

Outlines: NYC boroughs (Department of City Planning), states and counties (US Census), countries (Natural Earth). Pins sit on the documented block or project; where a source gives only the borough or city, the pin says so. Research by Raised by Latinos for the We Are Hip-Hop collaboration with the GAHHD Podcast. Did we miss anyone?

If you think we did, tell us.

We don't pretend to be the experts. We are the holders of the history — the ones keeping the names together in one place. We always want to give flowers to the ones who built the culture. This map is not finished and it never will be: whole careers went undocumented because nobody wrote them down at the time. That is the problem this page exists to fix.

We add names with proof. Send the name, what they did, where they came up, the year, and a link to something that documents it — a credit, an interview, a photo with a date, a news story, an archive listing. If you were there, your testimony counts too: tell us what you saw and when. We read everything, we add what we can verify, and we say when we can't.

The block matters. Every pin on the map is placed as close to the street as the proof allows.
